The Process
Preparation
Hair should be at least 5mm long for waxing to work effectively. The skin is cleansed before waxing begins. We check for any skin sensitivities or medications that may affect treatment.
Waxing
Professional wax is applied in the direction of hair growth and removed swiftly in the opposite direction, taking hair from the root. Hot wax (which shrink-wraps around the hair) is used for sensitive areas; strip wax for larger areas.
Soothing & Aftercare
After waxing, any residue is removed and a soothing lotion or oil is applied. Written aftercare advice is provided.
Aftercare Advice
Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds and hot baths for 24 hours after waxing
Avoid tight clothing over waxed areas for 24 hours
Do not use perfumed products on waxed skin for at least 24 hours
Exfoliate gently 3 days after waxing and twice weekly to prevent ingrowing hairs
Do not shave between waxing appointments - this defeats the benefit
Moisturise daily to keep skin smooth and reduce the chance of ingrowing hairs
FAQs
- How long does hair need to be for waxing?
- Hair should be at least 5mm long - approximately 2 weeks of growth after shaving. If hair is too short, the wax cannot grip it effectively.
