The Process
In-depth Consultation
Before any correction work begins, a thorough consultation is essential. We need to understand your full colour history - every chemical service your hair has had. We'll also assess porosity, elasticity and condition to create a safe corrective plan.
Staged Correction
Depending on the issue, correction may involve colour removal, lightening, re-colouring, toning or a combination. We work in stages to avoid over-processing, and may recommend splitting the work across multiple appointments.
Rebuild & Restore
Bond-repair treatments are applied throughout the process. Once the correct base is achieved, we apply the desired colour or tone. A conditioning treatment finishes the service.
Aftercare Advice
Follow all aftercare instructions carefully - correction work leaves hair more vulnerable
Use bond-repair treatments weekly (such as Olaplex or similar products)
Avoid all heat styling for at least a week after correction if possible
Use only sulphate-free, colour-safe products
Avoid swimming in chlorinated water for several weeks
Schedule regular conditioning treatments in the weeks following correction
FAQs
- Can you fix box-dye hair?
- Yes - this is one of the most common correction requests we receive. Box dyes often leave dark, 'flat' results or cause uneven colour. Correction is possible but requires a careful, staged approach. The time and number of sessions needed depends on how much colour has built up.
- How many sessions will colour correction take?
- This varies enormously depending on the starting point and the desired result. Some corrections can be completed in a single long appointment; others require 2–4 sessions spaced weeks apart to allow hair to recover in between.
- Why is the consultation so important for correction?
- For a standard colour, a consultation is helpful. For correction work, it's essential. We need to know everything your hair has been through - especially any home colouring, bleach, perms or relaxers - to assess what's possible and plan a safe approach.
